Referrer

Admission arrangements

Stone Soup Academy provides alternative education for young people who are outside mainstream schooling or at risk of exclusion. Students are referred by schools and local education authorities across the East Midlands.

Admissions are managed through referrals rather than direct parental applications. Prospective students and their parents or carers are welcome to visit the Academy for a guided tour arranged through their referrer.

We also offer temporary remote education when attending in person is not possible, particularly during transitions into or out of the Academy. These arrangements are carefully planned with families and referring schools to support a confident return to classroom learning.

We are proud to be Ofsted Outstanding June 2025 & TES 2020 winners of Alternative Provision school of the year.

Inspection of a school judged outstanding for overall effectiveness before September 2024

Inspection dates: 10 and 11 June 2025

Outcome

Stone Soup Academy has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection.
The interim executive principal of this school is Kerrie Henton. The school is a single academy trust, which means that other people in the trust also have responsibility for running the school. The trust is overseen by a board of trustees, chaired by Tina Byrom.

Commissioning a Place

Referring schools or Organisations should contact The Stone Soup Academy Admissions team via the school’s main telephone number or send written enquiries via email.

Exam and Assessment Results

Stone Soup Academy focuses on engagement with education and reintegration with schools. The average time a student is with us is 28 weeks, and the courses offered to students reflect that. With this in mind, we offer GCSEs and GCSE equivalents in-line with the time a student will be with us, their starting point and alignment with the referring school’s needs.
